Eugenio Chacarra Wins DP World India Championship

Eugenio Chacarra has moved to the top of the Race to Dubai standings after securing a two-shot victory at the DP World India Championship in New Delhi.
The 26-year-old Spaniard finished the week on 21 under par, closing with a two-under 70 to claim his third DP World Tour victory of the 2026 season.
Chacarra began the final round with a five-shot advantage following a superb nine-under 63 on Saturday. He strengthened his position with birdies at two of his opening three holes before briefly giving one back at the sixth.
Australia’s Daniel Hillier mounted the strongest challenge and reduced the lead to two shots with a birdie at the final hole, but Chacarra remained composed over the closing stretch to complete another impressive victory.
The win follows his successes at the KLM Open and Italian Open earlier this season and takes his DP World Tour career total to four titles.
Race to Dubai battle intensifies
Chacarra’s victory lifts him to 4,092.89 Race to Dubai points, moving him ahead of Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy with three events remaining in the season.
The Spaniard now has an opportunity to join an illustrious group of countrymen to have finished the year as Europe’s No 1, following Jon Rahm and six-time winner Seve Ballesteros.
Chacarra has also made no secret of his ambition to earn an automatic place in Europe’s 2027 Ryder Cup team at Adare Manor, rather than relying on a captain’s pick.
Difficult week for McIlroy
Rory McIlroy endured a frustrating tournament in India, finishing in a share of 42nd place on four under par, 17 shots behind Chacarra.
The Northern Irishman began the final day 13 shots off the lead and closed with a two-over 74.
McIlroy remains firmly involved in the Race to Dubai, sitting third behind Chacarra and Reed, but will skip the upcoming Genesis Championship in South Korea before returning for the final two events in the United Arab Emirates.
Patrick Reed finished tied 23rd on eight under, while Tommy Fleetwood produced a final-round 68 to finish on 13 under.
Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre also enjoyed a strong week, finishing inside the top 10 on 12 under alongside Tom McKibbin.
Three events remain
The DP World Tour now heads to South Korea for the Genesis Championship, before the season concludes with the Abu Dhabi Championship and DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.
With Chacarra, Reed and McIlroy all still firmly in contention, the battle to finish the season as Europe’s leading player looks set to go down to the final weeks.
