Tiger and Charlie Woods Fall Short to Langer Duo Despite Stunning Hole-in-One at PNC Championship
The PNC Championship in Orlando delivered unforgettable moments, as 15-year-old Charlie Woods hit a career-first hole-in-one while teaming up with his legendary father, Tiger Woods. Despite their remarkable performance, Team Woods narrowly missed out on victory, falling to Bernhard Langer and his son Jason in a dramatic playoff.
The Langers secured their sixth PNC Championship title when Bernhard sank an eagle putt on the first extra hole, capping off a day filled with thrilling golf at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. Both teams had tied at 28 under par during regulation play.
A Historic Moment for Charlie Woods
During the final round, Charlie made history on the 175-yard par-three fourth hole. His perfect seven-iron shot initially went unnoticed by Charlie himself until enthusiastic cheers from the gallery confirmed the ball had found the cup. Tiger’s proud embrace and playful shove highlighted the father-son camaraderie.
“It was a perfect seven-iron,” Charlie later said. “I didn’t think it went in until I saw it myself. It was awesome.”
Tiger added a light-hearted jab: “You’re buying! That’s the protocol for making a hole-in-one,” to which Charlie humorously replied, “I’m broke.”
High Spirits Despite Defeat
Though they came up short in the playoff, both Tiger and Charlie reflected on the experience with positivity. “It was awesome,” said Charlie. “It’s the most fun I’ve ever had, and on top of that, I made an ace—I can’t top that.”
Tiger echoed his son’s sentiments, adding, “I’m just super happy for Charlie. No one made mistakes today, and we had to earn it. It’s been a joy to play as a team.”
The event also marked Tiger’s return to competitive golf following back surgery earlier this year. While Team Woods has yet to claim a PNC title, their dynamic performances continue to make headlines.
Another Ace on the Day
The day’s excitement didn’t end with Charlie’s achievement. Paddy Harrington, son of three-time major winner Padraig Harrington, also made a hole-in-one, this time on the eighth hole, adding to the tournament’s unforgettable moments.
A Celebration of Family and Golf
The PNC Championship, which brings together 20 major champions playing alongside family members, remains a unique showcase of talent and togetherness. For Tiger and Charlie Woods, it’s a platform for creating lifelong memories—while for golf fans, it’s a chance to witness iconic moments like Charlie’s ace, which will surely be remembered for years to come.
