Scheffler Dominates in Memphis as FedExCup Playoffs Heat Up

The American arrived on Sunday with a two-shot lead and quickly took control of the final round, producing a composed closing 66 to finish on 17 under par. In difficult Memphis heat, Scheffler showed exactly why he remains one of the most dominant players in world golf.

Despite an unlucky moment on the third hole, where his bunker shot struck a sprinkler head and found water, Scheffler responded in typical fashion. He bounced back with birdies on the fifth and sixth before adding further gains on the back nine to pull clear of the field.

Si Woo Kim finished second on nine under, while Sam Burns and Alex Noren shared third place. Tommy Fleetwood, who started the day in contention, struggled on the back nine and eventually finished tied seventh on six under.

Rory McIlroy also endured a difficult return to PGA Tour action, closing with a 72 to finish well down the leaderboard.

Scheffler’s victory was his second PGA Tour win of the 2026 season and his 21st PGA Tour title overall, making him the third-youngest player to reach that landmark behind Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus.

The FedExCup Playoffs now move on to the BMW Championship, where the top 50 players in the standings will continue their push towards the season-ending Tour Championship.

For club golfers, Scheffler’s win was another reminder of the value of patience, composure and staying focused after setbacks. Even the world’s best get bad breaks, but the response is what makes the difference.
