Scheffler Clinches PGA Championship in a Major Thriller at Quail Hollow

The 2025 PGA Championship delivered a rollercoaster finish, and it was World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler who stood tall at the end, claiming his third major title in commanding fashion at Quail Hollow Club.

Despite a few nervous moments during the final round, Scheffler held off fierce competition from Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau to secure a five-shot victory and his 15th PGA Tour win. The final day was filled with drama, momentum swings, and world-class golf – a true spectacle for fans across the globe.

A Battle of Nerves and Grit
Scheffler began Sunday with a three-shot lead, extending it to five early on after his playing partner Alex Noren faltered. But the front nine wasn’t smooth sailing – Scheffler bogeyed the ninth to fall back to nine-under, while Jon Rahm surged with a run of birdies to draw level.

The contest briefly turned into a duel, but Quail Hollow’s notorious “Green Mile” closing stretch had other plans. Rahm, chasing hard, stumbled dramatically with a bogey and two double-bogeys over the final three holes – a heartbreaking collapse that saw his title hopes sink into the water hazards.

Scheffler Steadies the Ship
As challengers fell away, Scheffler regained control with back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th, finishing with a level-par 71. A final-hole bogey didn’t matter – the job was done. Emotions ran high as Scheffler lifted the Wanamaker Trophy, even managing to drop the lid in a light-hearted moment of celebration!

Close, but No Cigar
Bryson DeChambeau, for the second consecutive year, finished runner-up at the PGA Championship. Despite a strong showing, a final-hole bogey left him tied for second with Davis Riley and Harris English, who surged up the leaderboard with a scintillating 65.

Rahm ultimately shared eighth place, while Rory McIlroy – hoping to build on his earlier major success this year – never found his rhythm and finished tied-47th.

Words from the Champion
"I knew it was going to be a challenging day," Scheffler reflected. "I didn't have my best stuff but I kept myself in it. I stepped up on the back nine and had a really good nine holes. I'm just really proud of the way I fought this week."

What's Next in the Golfing Calendar?
Scheffler isn’t slowing down. He’s set to headline the upcoming Charles Schwab Challenge and the Memorial Tournament, both key stops leading up to the U.S. Open at Oakmont (June 12–15), where DeChambeau returns as defending champion.

From everyone here at Bonnyton Golf Club, congratulations to Scottie Scheffler on a brilliant performance under pressure. Whether you're watching the pros or out on the course yourself, remember – golf is a game of patience, passion, and perseverance.

Keep swinging,
