England’s Lottie Woad, the world’s No. 1 amateur, delivered a commanding performance to claim her first Ladies European Tour title at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open, held at Carton House in Kildare.

The 21-year-old led by seven shots heading into the final round and closed with a composed four-under-par 69, finishing six strokes ahead of Solheim Cup star Madelene Sagstrom on 21-under-par. Despite her victory, Woad, still an amateur, did not collect the winner’s prize, which instead went to Sagstrom.

Woad showed poise throughout the tournament, shooting rounds of 68, 67, and 67 before her steady final round. She birdied three of her final seven holes on Sunday, showcasing a mix of precision iron play and clutch putting. This marks the first LET win by an amateur since 2022.

Charley Hull of England finished fourth on 12-under, while Ireland’s Leona Maguire ended tied for 48th after a disappointing final-round 75.

Despite the win, Woad confirmed she intends to remain an amateur for now, aiming to secure LPGA Tour status through the Elite Amateur Pathway, needing just two more points to qualify.

“It means a lot to get the win,” said Woad. “I’m still focused on my goals and excited for the Evian Championship next week.”

Woad’s victory adds to an already impressive amateur résumé that includes the Augusta National Women’s Amateur title in 2024.

As the LET and LPGA Tours move on to France for the Evian Championship, Bonnyton members will no doubt be keeping an eye on Woad’s continued rise – a young talent clearly destined for great things in the world of golf.
