LET Season Finale: Rhodes vs Tan in Spain

The Ladies European Tour season reaches its climax this week at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España, with England’s Mimi Rhodes chasing a remarkable finish to her breakout year.
The 23-year-old has already secured Rookie of the Year after an outstanding season that includes three wins. Now, she arrives in Spain with a chance to add the Order of Merit title to her trophy haul.
She trails Singapore’s Shannon Tan by just 219 points, and the maths is simple:
- If Tan finishes ahead of Rhodes, she wins the Order of Merit.
- Rhodes needs at least a top-three finish to have a chance of overtaking her.
Rhodes isn’t overthinking it:
“I won’t be changing my mindset. I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved this year. Shannon deserves to be leading right now, but hopefully I can try to get the lead back. It’s my first year out here and I’ve made great friends with Shannon – there’s no beef!”
A win for Rhodes would put real pressure on Tan, who would then need a solo second to stay on top. A solo second for Rhodes would force Tan to finish sixth or better.
Tan, a two-time winner this season, knows exactly what’s at stake:
“It would mean a lot to win the Order of Merit. Georgia Hall is my idol and she’s won it before – so to add my name to that list would be special.”
The pair will play together in Thursday’s opening round, adding even more intrigue to the final showdown of the year.
Beyond the title race, the week is crucial for many players:
- Top 10 on the Order of Merit earn places in the LPGA Q-Series Final Stage.
- Top 70 secure full LET playing rights for 2026.
With perfect conditions expected at Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf, all eyes will be on Rhodes and Tan as the 2025 season reaches its conclusion.
