Hull and Brennan Finish Second at Grant Thornton Invitational

England’s Charley Hull and her playing partner Michael Brennan finished tied for second at the Grant Thornton Invitational mixed team event, ending the tournament three shots behind the winners.

The pair made a flying start, posting an impressive 17-under-par opening round, followed by a steady one-under score on day two to sit just one shot off the lead heading into the final round.

However, Andrew Novak and Lauren Coughlin produced a strong closing performance at Tiburón Golf Club, carding a nine-under-par 63 in the final-day modified fourballs format to secure a comfortable three-shot victory. Novak sealed the win with a series of birdies on the back nine, including a key putt on the par-five 17th.

Hull and Brennan closed with a 65 to finish on 25 under par, sharing second place alongside strong performances from Chris Gotterup and Jennifer Kupcho, and Denny McCarthy with Nelly Korda.

Coughlin’s final birdie helped Novak and Coughlin set a tournament record total of 28 under par. The victory marked Novak’s second team title of the year, adding to his earlier success at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans.

The Grant Thornton Invitational is a 54-hole mixed team event featuring 16 PGA Tour and 16 LPGA Tour professionals, played over three days using different team formats. The tournament continues to showcase the growing popularity of mixed-gender competition at the highest level of the game.
