Hideki Matsuyama made history in Hawaii, setting a new PGA Tour record with a staggering 72-hole score of 35 under par to secure victory at The Sentry. The Japanese golfer claimed his 11th PGA Tour title, finishing three strokes ahead of Collin Morikawa.

Matsuyama’s performance surpassed the previous record of 34 under par, set in 2022, and marked his third title in less than a year. His flawless display included an eight-under 65 in the final round at Kapalua, with a bogey on the par-four seventh being his only dropped shot in his last 59 holes. This dominant performance earned him the top prize of $3.6 million and propelled him to fifth in the world rankings.

Record-Breaking Feats on the Greens
The win was highlighted by Matsuyama’s record-setting 35 birdies or better, including a stunning eagle from 107 yards on the second hole of the final round. Reflecting on his achievement, Matsuyama said: "I’m so happy that it went in."

Runner-up Collin Morikawa, who started the day just one shot behind Matsuyama, carded a six-under 67 but saw his title hopes fade after consecutive three-putts on the front nine. Speaking about his rival’s performance, Morikawa remarked, "Today he just never let up... To win on a course like this, you’ve got to have it for all 72 holes, and I had it for 65."

Standout Moments and Highlights
Sungjae Im finished in third place with a 65 on the final day, bringing his total to 29 under par. Another standout moment came from Taylor Pendrith, who achieved the first albatross on Kapalua’s Plantation Course since 1999. The Canadian holed out from 200 yards on the par-five fifth hole and finished in a tie for 13th at 22 under par. Pendrith reflected: "As soon as I hit it, I knew it was going to be good, but I didn’t expect it to go in. The reaction from the crowd was incredible."

With Matsuyama’s victory cementing his place among golf’s elite, fans now look forward to the upcoming events on the PGA Tour, which promise more thrilling moments and outstanding performances.
