Grant Forrest Clinches Second Home Soil Victory at Nexo Championship
Scottish golfer Grant Forrest claimed an impressive four-shot win at the Nexo Championship, held at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen — marking his second career DP World Tour victory on home turf.
Forrest, who first tasted DP World Tour success at St Andrews exactly four years ago, mastered the blustery weekend conditions to pull clear of the field. Starting the final round with a three-shot lead, he briefly saw that margin trimmed after Todd Clements birdied the opening hole. But the turning point came at the 4th: Forrest rolled in a birdie while Clements suffered a triple-bogey, stretching the gap to five shots. From there, he never looked back.
Despite a double-bogey on the last, Forrest’s steady play — including two more birdies and just one other dropped shot — saw him close with a level-par 72, finishing eight-under for the week.
The win brought a surprise moment off the course too: a FaceTime call from American president Donald Trump, congratulating Forrest on his victory and even inviting him for a round of golf in the States.
“It’s amazing, just speechless,” Forrest said afterwards. “I think it’s almost the same week I won four years ago — there must be something about playing at home this time of year. Golf’s a crazy game, and this just proves how one good week can change everything.”
Joe Dean finished runner-up at four under, while John Parry, Kristoffer Reitan, and Jacob Skov Olesen shared third at three under. Only nine players in total finished the tournament under par, showing just how testing the conditions were.
A memorable week for Scottish golf — and a reminder that form can return when you least expect it.
