The Sentry: Chris Kirk wins the PGA Tour season opening by holding off Sahith Theegala and Jordan Spieth.
In the first Signature Event of the season on the PGA Tour, Chris Kirk won by a single stroke; Sahith Theegala came in second, and Jordan Spieth finished third; Sungjae Im broke the record for the most birdies made in a round on the PGA Tour, and Justin Rose tied the course record in a low-scoring day.
Following an amazing one-shot victory at The Sentry in Hawaii, Chris Kirk started his PGA Tour career with a triumph as he held off a crowded leaderboard.
At the Plantation Course at Kapalua, where tranquil conditions led to the field posting the lowest shooting average (66.67) since PGA Tour records started, Kirk had a one-shot lead going into the final round.
After making more — at the 11th and 15th holes, the American scored five birdies in a seven-hole run on the front nine. A spectacular birdie at the par-four 17th hole put him on the path to his sixth PGA Tour victory.
