Charley Hull Shines as World Team Clinches Third at LPGA International Crown
England’s Charley Hull delivered another standout performance on the world stage, helping the World Team secure a third-place finish at the Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown in South Korea.
Hull was in excellent form all week, finishing with a 3-1-1 record after a commanding 4&3 victory over Japan’s Ayaka Furue in the third-place match at the New Korea Country Club. Her success was followed by Lydia Ko’s 3&2 win against Rio Takeda, confirming the World Team’s two points and a well-earned third-place finish.
In the final, Team Australia captured the crown after narrowly missing out in 2023. Minjee Lee and Hannah Green both secured 2&1 victories over the USA’s Angel Yin and Yealimi Noh, giving the Aussies the championship title.
The remaining foursomes match—between Stephanie Kyriacou and Grace Kim of Australia and the USA’s Lilia Vu and Lauren Coughlin—became irrelevant after Green clinched victory on the 17th hole.
Strong Showing from England’s Cara Gainer at Wistron Ladies Open
Closer to home, England’s Cara Gainer impressed on the LET Tour, finishing tied for fourth place at the Wistron Ladies Open in Chinese Taipei. The event was won by local favourite Yani Tseng, who finished 14-under-par at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club.
Gainer shared fourth spot on eight under with Teresa Lu, Ching Huang, and Nook Sukapan, while Lottie Woad finished one shot further back in a tie for eighth. Despite a challenging week, Wales’ Darcey Harry produced one of the highlights of the tournament with a hole-in-one on the second hole during the final round.
