A Glamorous Night for a Noble Cause: Bonnyton Golf Club Ladies Section Fashion Show
On the 25th of July, the village of Eaglesham had the distinct honour of welcoming Lady Provost Mary Montague, who visited to recognise the commendable efforts of the Bonnyton Golf Club Ladies Section. The event in question was a fashion show held on the 6th of June, 2024, a night that combined glamour, community spirit, and charity.
Organised by the dynamic ladies of Bonnyton Golf Club, the fashion show was a resounding success. The stunning fashion was provided by ZU ZU Mode of Giffnock, adding a touch of elegance to the evening. The models for the show were none other than the talented ladies from the golf club's own section, showcasing both style and confidence on the runway.
The event saw an impressive turnout, with over 100 ladies in attendance. Their collective generosity helped raise nearly £1000. The proceeds were donated to TREE, a local group in Eaglesham dedicated to enhancing the village's beauty through their container gardens. For 12 years, the ladies of TREE have been adorning Eaglesham with vibrant planters, and the funds raised from the fashion show will ensure the continuation of this tradition for the next two years.
Our club chose TREE as our charity partner due to their commitment to environmental stewardship, a value that aligns closely with our own. Supporting TREE means supporting the beautification of our village and promoting a greener, more sustainable community.
The event was graced by the presence of Lady Provost Mary Montague, who expressed her delight at the efforts of both the Bonnyton Golf Club Ladies Section and TREE. In her speech, she highlighted the importance of community initiatives like ours that contribute to the well-being and beauty of local areas.
Pictured above, we have myself, Debra Clapham, the Lady Captain, alongside the Lady Provost, and members of TREE – Catherine Fraser and Jean Stewart. Also joining us were Catherine Pappas, Valerie Cram, Laura Potts, and Morag Venner from the Bonnyton Golf Club.
As we look to the future, the Ladies Section is actively seeking a new charity to support. Our focus remains on organisations within East Renfrewshire that are dedicated to enhancing or maintaining the local environment. If you know of a deserving charity that fits this criterion, we encourage you to reach out and let us know.
In closing, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended the fashion show, contributed to the cause, and supported TREE. Together, we've not only celebrated fashion and community but also ensured the continued greening of Eaglesham.
Stay tuned for more events and initiatives as we continue to foster community spirit and environmental stewardship.
