Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1, delivered a commanding performance to retain his title at the Hero World Challenge, hosted annually by Tiger Woods at Albany Golf Club in the Bahamas. Scheffler secured victory with a sensational final round, finishing the tournament on 25-under par, six strokes ahead of South Korea's Tom Kim.

The defending champion started the day trailing by one but quickly took control with birdies on three of the first four holes. This early surge saw him overtake playing partner Justin Thomas, who had held the overnight lead, and establish a lead of his own.

From there, Scheffler showed no signs of slowing down, carding a stunning nine-under-par 63—the best round of the day. Reflecting on his win, he said: "Very satisfying. I did a lot of good stuff today on the course. It feels nice to take a break and come back and continue to play some really solid golf."

This victory marks Scheffler’s eighth title in 2024, a year that also saw him claim Olympic gold in Paris.

South Korea's Tom Kim finished runner-up on 19-under par, while Justin Thomas secured third place at 18-under after a disappointing bogey on the final hole. "It's just disappointing," Thomas admitted. "I would have liked to put more pressure on Scottie on the back nine. But I can't expect to win when I only shoot one under on Sunday."

Rising talent Akshay Bhatia took fourth place with a 14-under finish, while US Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley claimed fifth at 13-under. Ludvig Åberg of Sweden emerged as the top European, finishing 12-under after a solid final round of 67.

Scheffler expressed his gratitude for the season, saying: "I think it has been a great year and a fun year. I've been fortunate to get some wins out of some really good golf. This was another week where I played really solid and was able to see some nice results from that. I’m very grateful for the wins, but I’m also looking forward to spending time off the course."

The Hero World Challenge provided a fitting end to a remarkable year for Scheffler, as the golfing world now looks ahead to what promises to be an exciting 2025 season.
